The ugly truth about meat & cheese

Or: If slaughterhouses had glass walls, everyone would be a vegetarian…

The meat at the deli counter sure looks delicious, all lean and nicely cut into slices and pieces ready to cook, with a fresh looking color of pink or deep red… and the cheese in all different flavors and textures makes your mouth water… oh my, and that meat-lovers pizza with extra cheese you had for dinner last night really hit the spot… but do you know the story behind all of that? Are you aware of the pain, the suffering and the torture your “meat” and “cheese” went through?

I am not trying to convert you to a vegetarian or vegan but I really want to open your eyes because you have been blindfolded by the meat and cheese industry ever since you were born. In my opinion, you deserve to know how your meat and dairy products are being made, how the animals are being treated during this process and what ingredients are really in your meat and dairy products so you can make a conscious choice for yourself whether to consume them or not. There is a reason why it is called “meat” and why we have pretty-sounding words like “beef” or “bacon” or “cheese”… it sounds better than “flesh” and “skin” and “product made with milk and enzymes”, doesn’t it? “Can I have a pound of ground cow flesh, please?” and “I’ll have ten strips of pig skin, please”, “Oh, and also a pound of the sliced “milk-enzymes-thingy”. Why don’t we have pretty-sounding words for vegetables and fruits? Because we don’t need them. You would agree that milk is for babies, right? Are you a baby? Then why are you drinking milk and consuming milk products??? Because the food industry has fooled you to believe that you need the calcium from the milk, yogurt and cheese for your bones. Which is correct, you do need more calcium… as long as you are a baby or a toddler. Once you are grown up, all the calcium you need -which is not very much - can be provided by plants. “But why would the dairy industry not tell me that I don’t really need their milk?”…because they make a lot of profit off of you buying into their fairy tales! Why do you think there are so many people with lactose intolerance? BECAUSE ADULTS DO NOT NEED MILK! It’s that simple. Clogged arteries? One of the main causes? Calcium!

I am actually curious after reading many articles about the meat and milk process and seeing many undercover videos, if the owners of slaughterhouses and dairy farms or the workers actually would eat the meat and consume the dairy products their houses and farms produce…

Another thought, it’s very possible to tour through a car maker’s plant or to visit a beer brewery or a whiskey distillery but visiting a slaughterhouse is something I have never heard of. Wonder why? Because apparently they have something to hide. What are they hiding? The pain, the suffering and the screams of the animals being stunned (not killed!) and dismembered while often times being fully conscious. They want to hide the cruelty of how the animals get treated before they die a painful and fearful death. They are being kicked, beaten, punched and electroshocked… most people can’t bear seeing an animal suffer… if you saw this, your appetite for their meat would be much smaller if not vanished… therefore their profits would be much smaller… so they are hiding it and let you keep supporting it while making you believe that what’s going on behind the scenes is “humane”. What a lie! I dare you watch an undercover video of a slaughterhouse.
