The Key to Inner Peace & Happiness

Questions to better understand Yourself

In order to improve your mind, spirit and body you first must get to know yourself. This means, you need to find out how you react in certain situations - why did this make me angry? - and what are your triggers that make you do certain things - why do I crave chocolate now? - or what stirs up your emotions - why do I feel anxious before going into that meeting with my boss?… Everything you do, feel and think has a reason. Sometimes it is easy to find out why let’s say you are craving chocolate: sometimes you just need quick energy, a little bit of sugar and carbs to keep you going through the afternoon slump. But sometimes you need to dig a little deeper to find out why you crave that piece of chocolate. Maybe you feel unsatisfied and you remember from your childhood that your mom gave you chocolate as a reward for completing a chore. And instead of truly craving chocolate (as in “energy”), you are craving the feeling of being rewarded for something you did, maybe you cleaned your entire house and you feel that you deserve a reward.

The following questions are meant to help you to get to know yourself. Answer them in your head or take a journal and write everything down to reflect on later. Get inspired and find more questions you want to answer for yourself. The more you know about yourself and the more you understand why you do and think what you do and think, the more you will find your way to inner peace and happiness. Find out what triggers bad thoughts and bad actions and be aware of those triggers next time they happen and you will be able to avoid those bad actions and thoughts. It won’t happen overnight but step by step, day by day, you will get there.
